Zappolo and Clough delved into tidbits of Denver sports history as each has worked in the market for a quarter-century or more. It brought back fond memories of when some of the most prominent, knowledgeable Denver sports media folks used to get together for TV or radio roundtables that almost always proved entertaining and informative.
It also made me think how much better Denver sports fans had it less than 10 years ago when they tuned into local TV sportscasts. And Lombardi would be far better served not to make himself a part of the story as often as he does. Guys like Zappolo and Green, in particular, gave us that insight and perspective while still keeping it fun. Nowadays, insight and perspective from the local sports anchors seem to be far rarer commodities.
